In-Stock Shoes

Bloch S0131L Serenade & S0131S Serenade Strong
Description:  The Serenade has a similar shape to the Suprima and the Sonata. The heel is narrow and fits snugly. The toe platform is square and wide for excellent balance on pointe, and well-suited to dancers with more square-shaped feet and toes. The Serenade has a longer vamp and stronger shank to provide more support to dancers who tend to fall forward out of pointe. It also provides superior lateral balance for the supporting foot when standing flat, and helps prevent falling sideways from pointe. Use Bloch Break-In Technique A.
Available size range:
  Bloch size 1 thru 9 by half-size, widths B, C, D, E, Standard Shank or Strong Shank

Bloch S0111L BPS
Description:  The BPS is Bloch's Professional Shoe. The box is created with a paste that encourages the shoe to mold itself to the dancer's foot as she dances (and perspires).
The BPS is currently available in 3 'maker' styles:
"Spade" is a tapered streamline design that promotes a long line of the leg.
"M" is a lot squarer than "Spade", and features a bigger/wider platform which enhances balancing and turning.
"Triangle en Pointe" is in between "Spade" and "M", featuring a slim design without compromising balancing performance.
Use Bloch Break-In Technique B.
Available size range:
  Bloch size 2 thru 8 by half-size, widths 1-X, 2-X, 3-X
Our In-Stock Status: Limited Availability - Bloch has discontinued this shoe. Availability is limited to the quantities that remain in our own stock (and possibly the Bloch warehouse).

Bloch S0104L Alpha
Description:  Revolutionary 3/4-outsole design, offering maximum bend at the arch without compromising support. The Alpha is designed for the advanced student, pre-professional, and professional dancer. Intended to maximize the performance of the pre-strengthened foot and ankle, the balanced combination of insole, outsole, box, and vamp allows the dancer to sit high and straight on pointe. The shoe moves to where it is needed for perfect alignment without unnecessary resistance. Use Bloch Break-In Technique B.
Available size range:
  Bloch size 2 thru 8 by half-size, widths 1-X, 2-X, 3-X

Bloch S0105L Aspiration
Description:  The Aspiration is built for the student, and has a shape similar to the Synergy. Like the Synergy, the Aspiration is wider around the metatarsals than other Bloch shoes. However, the box is harder than the Synergy. The shank is a new design, intended to bend at 'three-quarter' while still providing support. Use Bloch Break-In Technique A.
Available size range:
  Bloch size (child)13, 1 thru 9 by half-size, widths A, B, C, D, E

Bloch S0168L Signature Rehearsal & S0168S Signature Rehearsal Strong
Description:  The Signature series is intended to combine the desire for a pointe shoe that acts totally as a performance shoe should, while also having a longer life span. The shoe is constructed with a paste designed to mold itself to the dancer's foot when moist. The paste is also responsible for the large reduction in noise on the floor. The box is shaped to give the perfect platform for aesthetics and balance. The platform is as high as it is wide, providing for both forward an lateral balance. Use Bloch Break-In Technique B.
Available size range:
  Bloch size 1 thru 9 by half-size, widths B, C, D, E, Standard Shank or Strong Shank

Bloch S0130L Sonata (3/4 Shank)
Description:  The Sonata is designed for students. It has a tapered heel for a snug fit, and features a high and wide toe platform. The platform is as wide as the Serenade but taller, making the Sonata a good balancing shoe. The box is slightly shorter to allow for an easier demi-pointe, and contains a cushion within the pleats for noise reduction, and a sponge inside the toe at the platform for extra comfort and protection. The shank is constructed to bend easier at 3/4, reducing the pressure on the shank and the shoe, and resulting in the dancer being supported high and straight under the arch without fighting to get there. These shoes make the dancer feel lifted from the floor when on pointe. The arch support is felt right under the front section of the heel. Both these factors combine to make the dancer feel suspended by the shoe and very planted on pointe. The insole is rather flexible. Use Bloch Break-In Technique A.
Available size range:

Bloch S0132L Suprima & S0132S Suprima Strong
Description:  Beginners through to advanced students will feel comfortable in this shoe. The streamline shape is well-suited to a dancer with narrow feet. The last is narrow and tapered, creating a snug fit at the heel. This is the smallest and most tapered box of all Bloch pointe shoes. The Suprima provides good flexibility through relevé yet retains good arch support. The excellent fit and tapered platform provide a very flattering finish to leg line. Use Bloch Break-In Technique A.
Available size range:
  Bloch size 1 thru 9 by half-size, widths B, C, D, E, Standard Shank or Strong Shank

Bloch S0100L Synergy Full-Shank
Description:  The Synergy is constructed on Bloch's Y-last, which has been developed for the more advanced dancer. The Y-last is wider around the metatarsals and their joints to accommodate bunions. The box is constructed with a paste that is designed to shape itself to the dancer's foot when moist, and has a very solid toe for support and longevity. The special paste promotes fast and easy break-in, and is responsible for a large reduction in noise on the floor. Use Bloch Break-In Technique B.

Description:  Same shoe as the S0100L Synergy, except with a 3/4 shank. The shank is constructed to bend easier at 3/4, reducing the pressure on the shank and the shoe, and resulting in the dancer being supported high and straight under the arch without fighting to get there. Use Bloch Break-In Technique B.

Bloch Break-In Instructions
To get the best from a Bloch pointe shoe, Bloch recommends following one of two techniques they have developed for "breaking-in" the shoe. Although both techniques are similar, they differ due to two different paste types and two different construction techniques.

Break-In Technique "A"
A little extra time needs to be taken to break in these shoe types. They are made with a harder paste than shoes requiring Technique B, and are therefore susceptible to 'snapping' if treated roughly at first. Once broken-in correctly, they have a long life span.

Doing barre is the best way to break in a pointe shoe. We understand however that you can't stand at the barre with a new pair of pointe shoes and expect to do a tendu, so the shoe needs to be prepared for barre by gently softening the shank and box by hand. Concentrate on the demi-pointe area of the shank, being careful not to crush the box. Then work your way up to the heel, gently massaging the shank until it is at a point where tendu and relevé to demi-pointe is comfortable.

Softening the box is not always necessary, and is left up to the individual dancer. If softening is necessary, then concentrate on gently softening the sides of the box. Lots of dancers stand on the top of the box in order to soften and widen it. We advise that if you stand on the box, you need to concentrate the pressure on either side of the box centre. This is important because the top centre of the box is the weakest point and prone to damage if stood on.

Once the shoes are ready for barre, 1 to 3 barres will be a sufficient time to shape them to your foot. At this point the shoes will be evenly softened with no weak points resulting from an incorrect breaking-in technique.

Break-In Technique "B"
These shoes are made from a paste that is designed to soften when moisture (perspiration) is applied. The technique here is simple to understand. Follow all steps in break-in technique A (above). After 1 to 3 barres the shoe will become moist and shape itself to the dancer's foot. Once the shoe has broken-in to your liking, allow it to dry thoroughly for 24 to 48 hours.

When the shoe has totally dried it will have set in the shape of the dancer's foot. At this point it is possible to apply a hardener such as Jet Glue or Lacquer Sizing (both items available in our Dance Accessories section) to the inside of the block and shank. This will not only harden the shoe in its current shape, but also stop any more moisture entering the shoe. So you are left with a strong shoe, molded in the shape of the individual dancer's foot on the inside, and leaving a quiet exterior.
