Two were used "as is" and one was cut apart and used partly for the bodice and partly on the plate (with the other two) We also used FF3721-CRIPL (above) as center front on the plate. It was a very quick and easy plate to make!

Unfinished Bodices!
Many of you have asked us for these in the
past, so we thought we would offer them to everyone this year.
This is how it works: You send us measurements, or specify a standard size. We cut out the bodice and lining and sew it together, but we do not do the finish work -- adding bones, bias tape or cording, hooks and eyes.

Shown: 10 piece unfinished bodice.
We send you the unfinished bodice with the materials needed to finish it (rigelene or bones and bone casing, cording or bias tape, hook and eye tape or individual hooks and eyes), AND full instructions with pictures. You then fit the dancer and make any changes to the seams, then finish the bodice. The point is, you get to fit the bodice BEFORE it is finished, ensuring a perfect fit.
You also do not have to make or alter a pattern, do the cutting or sew it together. This saves you both time and money - these unfinished bodices cost 1/2 what our finished bodices cost. For example. a 6 or 8 piece bodice runs $100 finished. The unfinished version is only $50. A 10-piece bodice finished, runs $125. Unfinished, $65. A 12 or 16 piece bodice finished runs $150 to $175. Unfinished, would be $75 - $87.50. Be sure to order early and allow at least 4 weeks right now.

2008 & 2009 Costuming Seminars
This
month, we would like to salute the work of two of our clients -
Laura Wiese and Tess Heet.
Laura has been a customer of ours for
a while now. Although we have never met, we feel like we have
known her forever. She is always fun to talk to on the phone -
creative, and very excited about the projects she is working on.
Below, is an email we recently received from Laura, and some
photos of her work.

Heet has also been a client for many years. She is the costume
designer for the Fort Wayne Ballet in Indiana. Tess recently
branched out into set design as well. Her designs are
amazing. Tess works tirelessly for Fort Wayne Ballet and has
produced gorgeous costumes for them for many years.

I just received your latest newsletter, and darn it all if you haven’t whet my appetite to make another tutu! Just when I found the time to sew clothes for myself…
This past Spring I made a Sugarplum and a white romantic for my daughter. You suggested the cerise for the Sugarplum, and I just absolutely love that color choice. It is mouthwatering and quite striking in real life. The SP bodice is your 12-piece Russian and the romantic bodice is from your 10-piece pattern. I have never used that 10-piece before, and I really love it! Another first for me was the hand wired tiara made from your kit. What a fun and satisfying project that was. I was skeptical about how that would come out, but the end result is stunning.
I have attached a couple pictures of the tutus... Admittedly, it is more “tarted up” than your typical Giselle/Sylphide romantic, but I am allowed to take creative liberties when it is my design for my daughter. ;) The rhinestones are crystal AB without the silver foil back, which gave it a more subtle sparkle.

We also offer a "Decorate Your Own" Rental Option: A plain white, pink or black tutu with a net plate and net bodice overlay. YOU put your own decorations on the net plate and overlay, then hand-tack the whole thing to the tutu and bodice. When you are done, take the whole plate and overlay off, keep it, and send the undecorated, rental tutu back to us! This option is a less expensive option than renting one of our fully decorated tutus -- about 1/2 as much! It also allows you to personalize the costume to fit the needs of your show perfectly. Plus, isn't the decorating the most fun?
