What is the Card-ID?
This is a 3- or 4-digit number printed (not embossed) on the card. It represents an additional fraud-prevention security measure, since this information is not included on your billing statement or any other written material - it's only printed on the card itself. VISA calls it CVV2, MasterCard calls it CVC2, American Express calls it Card-ID Number, and Discover calls it CardMember-ID. Nearly all credit cards issued in America have this number, although not all banks or issuers utilize the feature. Many cards issued in Europe and Asia now include this measure.

Where is the Card-ID located?
On VISA, MasterCard, and Discover Card, the 3-digit Card-ID is printed in the signature area on the back of the card, after the credit-card number. On American Express cards, the 4-digit Card-ID is printed on the front of the card.
