Learn everything you need to know to make your own beautiful, professional, performance-ready Classical Tutus!

This seminar teaches it all, from the very beginnings all the way through to a completed performance tutu, including skirt fitting, basque, construction, hooping, tacking, and much, much more.

Each day includes several hours of intense instruction, and covers everything you need to know to create a beautiful, professionally designed Tutu. The focus is absolutely on Tutu Construction - you WILL work very hard! And, at the end of the seminar, you will have completed (and go home with!) a full Classical Tutu worth several hundred dollars!

You will have your choice of several Tutu sizes, ranging from Child Size-8 through Adult Large.

You will have your choice of several tutu-net colors, or tutu-net & tulle color combinations, depending on the level of difficulty you choose.

The course includes a copy of the latest edition of "The Classical Tutu Book", by Claudia Folts, with pattern for a 'standard' Tutu Panty, as well as all the net, lining, and panty materials necessary to complete your chosen project.

In 2010, we re-structured this course to offer several levels of complexity - your choice should depend on your level of interest, your sewing skills and speed, and the specific role (if any) you are working toward.

'Advanced Level', Blended Colors & Fabrics, Undecorated:
You can choose to create a more advanced undecorated Classical Tutu utilizing a combination of TutuNet with Glimmer-Tulle or Enhanced-Sparkle-Tulle mixed into some of the layers. This option will require more time and expertise to construct.

Color options for this level may vary depending on season, venue, availability, instructor's choices, etc. But, your color choices will typically include White, Black, Red, Ivory, Pinks (dusty rose, rosette, paris pink, etc), with a blend of complementing and/or contrasting Glimmer or Sparkle Tulle.

'Beginning Level' or 'Advanced Level', Decorated:
You can choose to construct either the 'Beginning Level' or the 'Advanced Level' Tutu, and follow it all the way through to a fully-decorated Classical Tutu. We will provide trims and decorations for a 'traditional classical' role, and teach and demonstrate multiple methods of choosing, utilizing, arranging, and attaching. This Level includes a copy of the latest edition of "Finishing Touches: The Art of Embellishment", by Claudia Folts.

Please Note: If you have a specific role you are creating & decorating for, you should bring the trims and decorations with you that you'd prefer to use, or discuss possibilities with Claudia well in advance of the class.

Are you also taking our 'Bodice Construction' Seminar?
You don't have to create a bodice in a 'matching color', think a little bit 'outside the box'. For instance, a 'plain' White Tutu is absolutely gorgeous with a Corsair Navy bodice! You take it from there ....
