Each day includes many hours of intense instruction, and covers everything you need to know to create a beautiful, professionally designed Tutu.
The focus is absolutely on Tutu Construction - you WILL work very hard!
And, at the end of the seminar, you will have completed (and go home with!) a full Classical Tutu worth several hundred dollars!
Make no mistake!
These are NOT 'catalog' or 'handi-crafts' or 'hobbyist' tutus!
We teach the professional methods and techniques you need to produce a professional-quality, stage-ready tutu.
Please Note: Our Women's pattern and garment sizing is Children's sizes to Jr. Miss - in other words, 'Dancer Sizing'.
We do not have patterns for larger women.
Our patterns are not designed for, and will not readily adapt to, a non-dancer adult full-size-woman body-type.
You will have your choice of several Tutu sizes, ranging from Child Size-8 through Adult X-Large.
You will have your choice of several tutu-net colors, or tutu-net & tulle color combinations, depending on the level of difficulty you choose.
The course includes a copy of the latest edition of "The Classical Tutu Book", by Claudia Folts, with pattern for a 'standard' Tutu Panty,
as well as all the net, lining, and panty materials necessary to complete your chosen project.
For 2012, we have re-structured this course to offer two levels of complexity & difficulty -
your choice should depend on your level of interest, your sewing skills and speed, and the specific role (if any) you are working toward.
If you find you want even more unique and challenging options than these, take a look at our 'Advanced Performance Tutus' class!
'First-Year' students are advised to Keep It Simple!
There is so much to learn and so much information to absorb, you should really stick with the 'Option-1 - Single Color, Single Fabric-Type' tutu.
Here's our advice:
-- if you have never created a Classical tutu using Claudia's instructions and methods, or you want more personalized instruction than you can get from a book, then you should definitely choose Option-1.
And Please Keep in Mind - tutu-making is a skilled art, and as such it takes time to become proficient, and even more time (years!) to become an expert.
But it is a very amazing and fulfilling journey!
Happy tutu-ing!
Option-1 - Single Color, Single Fabric-Type
You can choose to create a Classical Tutu in your choice of several different sizes and TutuNet color options.
If you have never made a 'real' Classical Tutu before, this is the best option for you.
Your color choices will typically include:
White, Red, Ivory, Rosette, Dusty Rose, Paris Pink, Black.
Additional colors may be offered, depending on season, venue, availability, instructor's choices, etc.
And by the way, Black is actually a relatively difficult color with which to work.
Option-2 - Blended Colors & Fabrics:
You can choose to create a more advanced Classical Tutu utilizing multiple fabric colors, and a mix of TutuNet layers blended with layers of Glimmer-Tulle or Enhanced-Sparkle-Tulle.
This option will require more time and expertise to construct.
For 2012, we are offering this Level in 3 color/fabric 'themes': 'Snow Queen', 'Sugar Plum Fairy', and a 'Spanish' style.
You will have your choice of several role-appropriate variations within each 'theme'.
Please note: this seminar does NOT include bodice instruction.
The course is designed to work in conjunction with our 'Bodice Construction' and 'Couture Bodice Techniques' seminars.
